Here we offer an exceptional itinerary, in one of the most remote regions of Morocco: The North-South crossing of the Moroccan Atlas, from the Aït Bougmez valley to the lower MGOUN valley. The landscapes are as fantastic as they are varied: The peaceful Bougmez valley, with mosaics of cultures, and superb villages, the high lands, then the incredible notch of the M'Goun gorges, to finish on the oleanders and gardens the lower valley of the roses. An extraordinary journey where we will meet the Berbers of the high valleys, warm and welcoming people. Our guide, Berber, as well as our muleteers and our cook, will be as many mediators to communicate and exchange with these mountain inhabitants.

Program

Day 1: Marrakech -Azilal - Ait Bougmez Valley - Night with the locals (1800m)

Departure around 8 am,towards Azilal, mountainous city par excellence, it gives access to a dazzlingnature decorated with majestic mountains. Along the way, we will enjoy verybeautiful landscapes that characterize the high central atlas up to the Bouguemezvalley, known as the happy valley. Welcome to the Berber with a mint tea, thenfree stroll through the houses and fields of the Timite village. Night at theguesthouse. 6h drive.

Day 2: Timit - startof the hike -Col Ait Imi (2900 m) - Zerkan Valley - Tighremt n’Ait Hamed(2300m)

We discover thevillage El Had of Tabant, then we start to climb through the Ait IMI source ofcold water at 2000m altitude to Col 2910m with a 5 hour climb. From the pass, asuperb panoramic view of the chains and valleys of the Mgoun Massif does notleave the visitor indifferent. As we will take after an easy path to descend tothe Ouzighimt valley, we settle in Tighremt N’ait Hamed. Note that this stageis the only one with vertical drop, the rest is only for the descent. 6h30walk, Elevation: 1100m ascent and 600m descent. Night in tents.

Day 3: Tighremt N’AitHamed - The Ouzighimt Valley- IminIrkt

This day is limited tothe descent of the Ouzighimt valley; a wonderful valley whose population,especially women, is always in full activity: work in the fields, collectingfirewood ... our walk will be along the river, which links several villages.Lunch will be by the wadi at Taghraft. Then we continue our crossing to thevillage Imi N’Irkt. The duration 5h30 of walking. Elevation: 500m descent.Night in tents.

Day 4: Imi N’Irkt -Tighanimine

A stage of severalpassages in the water. At a time when the gorges are narrow, we always stay inthe water, often cold and refreshing in summer. A break for hot tea and lunchnear the Ifasfas spring. The camp will be at Tighanimine village. Duration 5hours of walking. Elevation: 500m descent. Night in tents.

Day 5: Tighanimine -Boutaghrar - night with the locals

This stage begins witha walk in the heart of crops, fruit trees: fig, walnut, apple trees under agood sun which makes the climate much warmer than the regions previously seen.Before arriving at Boutghrar, Our lunch will be scheduled near the village ofTamgalouna. The duration is 5h30 of walking. Elevation: 400m descent. Nightwith the locals.

Day 6: Boutghrar -Ouarzazate - Col of Tichka - Marrakech

The departure around 8am towards the town of Kelaa M’Gouna, renowned for its roses on a world scalewhere a big festival of roses is organized every first week of May. After 90km,we will arrive in Ouarzazate. Break at a local restaurant. The resumption ofthe road to Marrakech will be by the famous Tichka pass where we will havelunch. 320km of road.
